Winthrop Runners Shine at Virginia High Performance Meet
Charlottesville, Va. – On Sunday, April 27, 2025, Winthrop University showcased its talent at the Virginia High Performance meet held at Lannigan Field. Competing in the women’s 800m dash, sophomore Kayah Marques delivered a strong performance, finishing 8th with a time of 2:20.24.
This meet served as a critical opportunity for Marques to refine her skills ahead of the upcoming competitions. Her effort underscores the drive and dedication of the Winthrop track team as they prepare for the closing stages of the regular season.
Looking ahead, the Winthrop Eagles will cap off their regular-season schedule next Sunday as they head to Durham, North Carolina, for the Duke Twilight meet. This event marks Winthrop’s second appearance at Duke this season, offering another chance for the athletes to make their mark.
