West Virginia Baseball Set for Big 12 Showdown Against Texas Tech
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 16 West Virginia University baseball team is gearing up for a crucial three-game Big 12 series against Texas Tech at Kendrick Family Ballpark from May 2-4. Games are scheduled for Friday at 6:30 p.m., Saturday at 4 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m.
Fans can secure tickets through WVUGame.com, by calling 1-800-WVU-GAME, or visiting the Mountaineer Ticket Office. Admission is free for students with a valid WVU ID. The series will be broadcast on ESPN+, with live stats available at WVUsports.com.
This weekend’s promotions include a Friday Night Happy Hour, an Alumni Game on Saturday, and a special Star Wars Day featuring a White Out on Sunday. The finale will also celebrate Kids Day with opportunities for postgame autographs and running the bases.
Having a stellar season, the Mountaineers boast a 37-6 record and lead the Big 12 with a 16-3 conference mark. They recently completed four consecutive series sweeps against Utah, Houston, Cincinnati, and UCF. West Virginia is currently ranked as high as No. 4 nationally in various polls, including Perfect Game and D1Baseball.
Leading the team offensively, junior Skylar King has a .362 batting average, while senior Jace Rinehart and junior Logan Sauve have each contributed seven home runs. Rinehart also leads with 43 RBIs. Pitching standout redshirt senior Griffin Kirn holds a 4-0 record with a 3.38 ERA and 62 strikeouts.
Texas Tech, coached by Tim Tadlock, enters the series with a 15-26 overall record and a 10-11 tally in the Big 12, following a tough midweek against UTRGV.
