Virginia Giuffre, Advocate for Survivors, Passes Away at 41
SACRAMENTO, CA — Virginia Giuffre, an influential advocate for survivors of sex trafficking, passed away on April 25, 2025, at the age of 41. Born Virginia Louise Roberts on August 9, 1983, in Sacramento, California, she spent her formative years in Florida, often homeless and moving frequently. After completing her education at Royal Palm Beach High School, Giuffre became a key figure in the fight against sex trafficking.
Her rise to prominence began in 2015 when she publicly identified herself as one of the women trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell during her teenage years. Giuffre’s advocacy gained international attention after Epstein’s arrest in 2019, and she was featured in the 2020 Netflix docuseries Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich.
In 2021, she made headlines again by filing a civil lawsuit against Prince Andrew, accusing him of sexually abusing her when she was just 17. Although Andrew denied the allegations, the case was settled out of court in 2022, with Giuffre receiving an undisclosed financial sum. This conflict underscored her commitment to seeking justice for survivors.
Giuffre founded Speak Out, Act, Reclaim (SOAR), an organization dedicated to supporting survivors of sex trafficking. She also authored an unpublished memoir titled The Billionaire’s Playboy Club, which later became a material in legal proceedings.
Married to Robert Giuffre, an Australian, she was a devoted mother to their three children—Christian, Noah, and Emily—but the couple separated in early 2025.
Giuffre’s untimely death by suicide in her Australian home has left the advocacy community mourning the loss of a powerful voice. Her legacy will continue to inspire many in the fight against human trafficking.
