WVU Track and Field Shines at Stan Romanoski Open
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team had a successful outing at the Stan Romanoski Open held on Saturday at the Mylan Park Track & Field Complex. The event showcased several remarkable performances, particularly from sophomore Lexi Lamb, who secured first place in the women’s 3,000 meters with a personal best time of 9:39.38.
Freshman Joy Naukot made an impressive debut by winning the 1,500 meters, clocking in at 4:19.78. In the 800 meters, fellow sophomore Eva Rinker delivered a career-best performance as well, finishing first with a time of 2:15.21. Redshirt sophomore Olivia Cress also recorded a personal best in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in 14.65 seconds.
The competition continued to highlight the team’s depth as sophomores Lily Haught and Cate Pickering marked their personal records in the 200 meters with times of 25.00 and 25.37, respectively. In field events, redshirt sophomore Annishka McDonald excelled, winning the high jump by clearing 1.75 meters, while freshman Sabira Jones placed second in the long jump with a leap of 5.48 meters.
