Missouri Tigers Secure West Virginia Transfer Jayden Stone
Columbia, MO – The Missouri Tigers bolstered their basketball roster on Sunday with the commitment of Jayden Stone, a 6-foot-4, 185-pound guard previously from West Virginia. This strategic addition comes as the Tigers look to enhance their guard and wing positions.
Stone, who is eligible for a medical redshirt for the 2024-25 season, has a diverse collegiate background. He played two seasons each at Detroit Mercy and Grand Canyon. During the 2023-2024 season, Stone had a standout performance at Detroit Mercy, averaging an impressive 20.8 points per game. Despite not playing in the past season, he showcased his skills in his senior year, starting in 25 of the 26 games he participated in. His shooting percentages were notable, hitting 42.2% from the field, 31.2% from beyond the arc, and an impressive 79.4% from the free-throw line. Additionally, he contributed 5.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game while competing in the Horizon League.
Originally hailing from Perth, Australia, Stone’s high school journey saw him transition from Forestdale Central Park Christian School in Alabama to Anniston Sacred Heart High School, before finally landing at Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas. In the Class of 2020, he garnered a three-star rating, with early predictions pointing him towards Auburn before ultimately signing with Grand Canyon.
With one final season of eligibility remaining, Stone is poised to make a significant impact on the court for the Tigers, bringing both size and skill to the team as they look to enhance their competitive edge heading into the new season.
