Buc-ee’s to Open First Virginia Location in Rockingham County
ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA – Buc-ee’s, the beloved Texas-based convenience store chain, is primed to open its first Virginia location on June 30. Located at the southeast corner of Friedens Church Road and I-81, the store will welcome visitors starting at 6 a.m., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 10 a.m.
Local dignitaries, including Rockingham County Supervisors Chairman Dewey Ritchie and other supervisors, will be present to celebrate the occasion. The new Buc-ee’s boasts an impressive 120 fueling stations, 20 electric vehicle charging stations, and parking for 600 vehicles, all spread across 74,000 square feet. The store is expected to create over 200 jobs, offering competitive starting wages above minimum wage, comprehensive benefits, a 6% matching 401(k) plan, and three weeks of paid vacation.
Buc-ee’s is no stranger to notoriety; it has recorded several "world records," including the largest convenience store in Luling, Texas, and the longest car wash in Katy, Texas. "I-81 is full of travelers looking for fun, and we aim to be the perfect stop for them,” said Stan Beard of Buc-ee’s, emphasizing the fun and vibrant atmosphere the store offers.
Founded in 1982, Buc-ee’s currently operates 36 locations across Texas and 15 more in other states, rapidly gaining popularity through social media showcasing their chaotic yet enjoyable environments. Open 24/7 year-round, the store offers fan-favorite snacks including Beaver Nuggets, brisket, and fudge, alongside merchandise featuring their iconic bucktooth beaver mascot.
