Join the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation’s Summer Challenge
The Virginia Capital Trail Foundation is excited to announce a Summer Challenge that invites residents and visitors to engage with the beautiful 51.7-mile Virginia Capital Trail, which connects historic Jamestown and Richmond. Participants can choose from three distance goals: complete the full trail (51.7 miles), embark on a round trip (103.4 miles), or conquer the trail ten times (517 miles) to celebrate the trail’s tenth anniversary.
This challenge is designed to be flexible and accessible, allowing participants to break their journeys into smaller sections over the summer. The only requirement is to pass each mile marker between Jamestown and Richmond at least once, in either direction. Runners, walkers, cyclists, and skaters are all welcome to participate.
According to Cat Anthony, executive director of the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation, “The Summer Challenge is a fun way to stay active while connecting with health, nature, and community. We love seeing people of all ages enjoy the Capital Trail and explore their community in their own unique way.”
Everyone who registers will be invited to an end-of-summer celebration on September 13, which will feature an awards ceremony for the top finishers.
Early registration is $27 until June 30, increasing to $42 starting July 1. All proceeds will support the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the trail.
