West Virginia University at Parkersburg Board of Governors has announced that tuition rates will remain unchanged for the 2025-2026 academic year. The decision was made to help alleviate the financial burden on students and maintain affordability. Chief Financial Officer, Brad Wilson, highlighted that WVUP has one of the lowest tuition rates in the region, making it a highly affordable option for students in the state.

Former Board Chair, Joe Oliverio, stepped down to take on a new role with the West Virginia Council for Community and Technical Colleges, overseeing all nine community colleges, including WVUP. Oliverio commended the success and growth of the institution during his tenure and expressed his continued support for WVUP in his new capacity.

The board also conducted an evaluation of President Torie Jackson, unanimously approving the renewal of her contract. The board praised Jackson’s leadership and performance, noting the positive impact she has had on students, faculty, and staff. Jackson emphasized the importance of serving the community and providing opportunities for individuals to build a bright future in their hometown.

Vice Chair Blaine Hess will temporarily fill the position of Board Chair until a permanent successor is appointed. The board expressed confidence in Jackson’s leadership and looks forward to the continued growth and success of WVU Parkersburg under her guidance. The decision to maintain tuition rates and support Jackson’s leadership reflects the commitment of the board to provide quality education and opportunities for students at WVUP.
