A fire destroyed Victory Outreach church in Pomona, California just before Christmas celebrations were set to begin. Firefighters arrived at 2:47 a.m. and found a massive fire with smoke billowing from the church. The church, built in 1981, was declared a total loss. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. The church had to postpone its planned Sunday celebrations, including a morning service and a Christmas play. However, they still plan to hold their toy giveaway for local children with the help of local firefighters later in the day. The Rev. Robert Garcia stated that 500 people had registered for the church’s planned celebration. A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise funds to rebuild the church. The Los Angeles County Fire Department and Victory Outreach church did not immediately respond to requests for comment from USA TODAY.
