West Virginia Legends Take on Roles in Mountaineer Football Staff

Three former WVU football players, Pat White, Rasheed Marshall, and Noel Devine, have returned to the Mountaineers coaching staff under coach Rich Rodriguez. White is assisting with the quarterbacks, Devine is working as an offensive analyst, and Marshall is the director of player relations. Together, these players had a successful college career and contributed to the team’s winning culture from 2002-2010.

Rodriguez praised the players for their understanding of the program’s tempo and environment, attributing their success to playing in the system. He noted that former players coming back and becoming coaches isn’t always a guarantee of success, as evidenced by NBA legend Jerry West’s coaching struggles. However, Rodriguez believes that White and Devine possess the qualities needed to excel as coaches and help players improve in their positions.

Regarding Marshall, Rodriguez highlighted his administrative role off the field and the positive impact he has on the players. The team has recently concluded their spring practice sessions and is preparing for the upcoming season.

Rodriguez emphasized the importance of coaches knowing what they are talking about and players seeing improvements under their guidance. He expressed confidence in White, Devine, and Marshall’s abilities to climb the coaching ladder and have successful careers in the future. Overall, the three former players bring valuable experience and knowledge to the coaching staff, contributing to the team’s development and success.
