The No. 23 Virginia baseball team suffered a 6-2 defeat against Richmond, ending their 31-game home midweek win streak. Ryan Osinski impressed in relief, throwing 3.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Chris Arroyo and Jacob Ference each had two hits, while Henry Godbout hit his second home run of the season. Richmond took an early lead with a two-run double in the second inning and extended it to 5-0 in the third. The teams traded solo home runs in the fifth inning. Despite a late rally in the eighth and ninth innings, Virginia could not overcome Richmond’s lead. Aidan Teel extended his on-base streak to 19 games with a bunt single in the ninth. Godbout has now hit home runs in back-to-back games for the second time in his career. This loss marks UVA’s first home midweek loss since 2022. Up next, Virginia will host Duke for a three-game series starting on Friday at Disharoon Park. The games will be broadcast on ACCNX and can be heard on WINA (98.9 FM/1070 AM).
