Dallin Hall makes verbal commitment to play football at the University of Virginia – Deseret News

BYU Cougar’s guard Dallin Hall has found a new home at the University of Virginia after entering the transfer portal last week. The 6-foot-4 player played in 100 games over three seasons for the Cougars, with 61 starts, but only 10 starts in the last season as he was replaced by freshman Egor Demin.

Demin recently announced his intention to enter the 2025 NBA Draft, leaving BYU in need of a new point guard. Reportedly, Baylor’s Rob Wright III is close to committing to the Cougars.

Hall will be joining a Virginia program that is currently in transition after longtime coach Tony Bennett retired just before the 2024-25 season. The Cavaliers finished the season with a 15-17 record under interim coach Ron Sanchez. Ryan Odom, who recently replaced Sanchez as head coach, will now mentor Hall.

Interestingly, Hall and Odom have never faced each other before despite both being based in Utah, where Hall was a high school senior in 2020. The two finally crossed paths during this year’s NCAA Tournament when BYU defeated VCU, Odom’s former team.

Hall’s move to Virginia marks a new chapter in his basketball career, as he looks to make an impact in a program that is undergoing significant changes. BYU, on the other hand, is on the hunt for a new point guard as they prepare for the upcoming season.
