West Virginia’s men’s basketball team improved its record to 7-2 with a dominant 79-45 victory over North Carolina Central at the WVU Coliseum. Freshman Jonathan Powell led the team with 17 points, while Joseph Yesufu added 14 and Javon Small contributed 12. The Mountaineers were without starting guard Tucker DeVries, who is sidelined indefinitely with an upper body injury. Eduardo Andre started in place of DeVries, scoring 3 points and grabbing eight rebounds, while K.J. Tenner came off the bench to score 9 points. Amani Hansberry pulled down 12 rebounds to help West Virginia dominate the glass. All 10 players who saw action for the Mountaineers scored, with the bench contributing 51 points.
North Carolina Central struggled offensively, shooting just 33.3% from the field. Isaac Parson was the only player to reach double figures for the Eagles, with leading scorer Po’Boigh King held to just 5 points.
